Mr. Akeel Rashid drives the vision and operational strategy of the Jammu and Kashmir Policy Institute, and also provides leadership and development support to the team members. He holds a bachelors degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Kashmir. He has done a masters in International Relations (Peace and Conflict Studies) at the Islamic University of Science and Technology, Awantipora. Mr. Akeel Rashid has been a news editor at Kashmir Images newspaper since 2018 and overseeing the paper’s news contents; besides, he has been reporting and writing columns, focusing primarily on education, politics, and economics, for various local newspapers of Jammu and Kashmir for 4 years. During his college/university years, Mr. Akeel was involved in almost all of the most important events held both within and outside of the college/university. He has participated in a project “Skill Needs Assessment of Kashmiri Youth” conducted by ‘Commonwealth Educational Media Center for Asia’ in Collaboration with ‘Center for Cultures, Technologies and the Environment in 2015. Mr. Akeel Rashid has participated in the “North India Student Parliament” organised by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra J&K in 2017. He represented the Islamic University of Science and Technology, Awantipora at an interaction themed “Operationalization of Knowledge Initiative in Jammu and Kashmir” which was presided over by the Advisor to Chief Minister of erstwhile J&K state. He has also participated in the Global Campus Program of the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies in 2017 and 2018.
