Escalating Vulnerability of War-Torn Regions to Climate Change

1024 684 Subhalakshmi

Conflict-affected regions are particularly susceptible to the impacts of climate change, which worsens humanitarian crises and hinders recovery efforts. Climate-related challenges, including extreme weather events, resource depletion, and environmental degradation, further destabilise fragile states. This paper explores the link between conflict and climate vulnerability through case studies from the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia. It examines how climate change exacerbates food and water insecurity, drives displacement, and heightens the risk of renewed conflict. The study also outlines policy recommendations for addressing climate-related risks in conflict zones.
