Abstract

Climate change presents one of the most complex and urgent challenges of the Anthropocene, demanding educational responses that move beyond awareness toward action, resilience, and justice. This paper examines the evolving role of climate change education in the 21st century, arguing that classrooms must function as “climate labs” where students acquire scientific understanding, critical thinking skills, interdisciplinary perspectives, and the emotional capacity to engage constructively with ecological crises. Drawing on global reports, pedagogical models, and experiential learning methods, the study outlines how educators across disciplines can embed climate concepts into curricula and foster agency among learners. The paper further highlights the expanding landscape of green careers and emphasises the need for education systems to prepare students for a just transition in a rapidly changing world. Ultimately, the work positions climate education as a transformative tool that empowers youth to navigate uncertainty, challenge inequalities, and participate actively in shaping a sustainable future.
